Is there a way to get the ball off the top of a joystick?

Post by OldFoo »

I have a SEGA Astro City cabinet and the balls on top of my 2 joysticks could use a replacement. I've tried unscrewing them but no luck. Is there a secret way to get them off? Are you even able to take them off?

Thanks.

Normally you just twist them but operators like to glue them to avoid they get stolen.

Awesome, thanks. I just needed something to lube them up and it twisted right off. I'm trying to replace the knobs rather than the entire joystick.

Would anyone know if these are the right ones for an Astro City cab?

Assuming you have Sanwa sticks, those are what you need.

I'm pretty sure I do. This is almost exactly what mine looks like.

This is the one on LizardLick that looks almost exact to mine.

All the ball tops should work with it right?

I am only having Sanwa stuff so i can't test and be 100% affirmative but i am pretty sure Sanwa balltops will work on Seimitsu sticks.

I searched further down on the page and saw they have the Seimtsu ball tops. I'm going to guess that's what I need lol. Thanks for the help.

Either one will work for you. In other words, it's OK to mix and match. Just pick whatever color you like. Note that colors vary between Seimitsu and Sanwa, so if you want your balls to match your buttons be sure to get the same brand for both.
