Hmm, PC133 on a N2GDROM?

Post by OldFoo »

:smt018 me and my pal cant seem to get the GD-Rom kit to initialise properly...

It keeps resetting at the memory screen once it hits 23%...so I investigated and the memory was totally warped....luckily nothing else was...damn cheap compaq memory...

We tried a 512mb stick of Kingston PC100 in it from the server PC, it ran fine, but something didnt seem right about the loading times...

Also we cant run it like that because the server can only use PC100 (its a pentium 2 backup server), and we need it more than the GD...

I have a boxes of PC133 lying around, and I didnt want to fk up this sweet board...would 133 run fine? I just want to know because I have boxes of 133 from old projects, and I dont want them to go to waste.

I'm no naomi expert, but I do know a thing or two about pc ram. PC133 is nothing more than higher spec PC100. There are no real changes except the chips can clock higher. All PC133 ram I've run into will run at 100mhz no sweat, and will usually do so at a lower latency.

Also I have a 512MB net Dimm board. it's broken down into 2 256MB sticks. Josh or Andy could chime in on this but I don't think the Dimm boards were meant to handle 512 on one side then again I am no expert by any means :smt020

The Dimm module can handle pc100/133 with no problems. Also, you can put 512mb as that is the max.
