Connector question...

Post by OldFoo »

So, I think I'm all set with my setup, right?

The last thing to connect is the 8-pin JST from the Naomi mobo to the SUN PSU.

One side of the cable is male, and connects to the Naomi mobo just fine.

The other, unfortunately, is also male, and will not connect to the SUN PSU - because the connector is also male.

This is the power cable I use to connect the Capcom I/O to the Naomi mobo, and since both connectors on the Capcom I/O and Naomi mobo are female, it works perfectly.

Unfortunately, a female 8-pin JST won't connect to another female (obviously.)

SO, my question is two-fold:

A. Should I not be using this cable for other reasons than the fact that I can't connect it to my SUN PSU? (Is the cable actually different in terms of wiring?)

B. If not, and the cable is perfectly fine to use other than the obvious connector problem, do they make a female/female connector than I could use to connect the cable to the SUN PSU 8-pin JST?

Thanks, I hope this made sense.

The dual male cable you mentioned is only for the Capcom I/O. The SUN psu connects directly to the Naomi and doesn't need any other connection.

I have my naomi on a wooden board and there is little to no room to connect the power cable but directly next to the power supply.

Its a SNUG tight fit but it will work like Josh said.
