DIMM FIRMWARE UPGRADE GDS-0023A v 2.13 -Which Security IC?

Hi,

I have a few non net dimm that I would like to upgrade to v2.13 firmware

I have the DIMM FIRMWARE UPGRADE GD-ROM GDS-0023A

Does anyone know which security IC will work with this disc?

I've tried VF4FT and a couple other but have not found one that will work yet.

I do not think i tried it w.o keychip. I might have but it was last weekend when I tried so I do not remenber. I'll give it a try.

I know I tried VF4FT and I think I tried VF4EVO, I do not own plain old VF4 so I could not try that IC. I think I also tried gundam (not sure why).

I will give it a try later this afternoon and post back.

Unfortunatley no-go

Tried w.o. sec IC and get "option board malfuntioning"

Get the same error with pretty much every other sec IC i've tried with the upgrade disc

DIMM and GD-ROM work fine with matching GD-ROM and SEC IC for several other games so setp is confirmed good

Any other ideas welcome

You can't update non-net dimms.

It's poinltess updating to 2.13 as that version doesn't support networking.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the response.

What I am really trying to do is convert a non net dimm to a net dimm

I have a working daughterboard (the part with the SCSI and ETHERNET ports) from a nonworking net dimm.

The daughter board is known working as I have swapped and tested it in another net dimm

I tried installing the daughter board on an older non net dimm in hopes of making a working net dimm.

I then tried updating from 1.0 to 3.17 but it stated firmware was too old

I was hoping to update from 1.0 to 2.13 and then from 2.13 to 3.17

The main dimm board from the older non-net dimms and the main board from the newer net dimms look pretty much identical.

Any idea if what I have mentioned is possible?

Any help greatly appreciated

Putting a 'network' board on a non-net dimm will not update since the non-net firmware is on the main board.
