Making a NAOMI PSU from a standard ATX PSU

Nope, no difference. For example, 5v tested near the psu will be the same 5v at the JST connector.

How can I test the JST connector on the voltage before connecting it to my NAOMI?

I have one for sale in bundle with a GD-ROM power harness:

(it plugs into one of the 4-pin peripheral power cables of the ATX power supply)

PM me if you want them.

It looks like in that pic, your gd-rom connector goes 12v, NC, 5v, 5v, G, G.

According to the starter faq, it looks like it should go 12, NC, 5, NC, G G.

Which one is correct? I'm expecting most of my parts to arrive this week and I'd like to get it right the first time. :)

Any help would be appreciated!

Should be

1 = +12v

2 = NC (or +12V)

3 = +5v

4 = NC (or +5V)

5 = GND

6 = GND

I've seem some with pins 2 and 4 wired, some without, doesn't seem to matter.

Probably wise not to wire up pin 2 or 4 as all the ones I've seen recently are not wired.

Since I'm doing this myself I guess I should ask; it would be proper to make a connector for the GD-ROM drive only, and power the Motherboard off the Capcom I/O? It sounds like it would save the trouble of pulling 3.3v off the ATX connector, since I'm using that to power my cabinet right now.

Never attempt to power a GD-ROM drive from a Capcom I/O.

The Capcom I/O was never designed for GD-ROM, was only good for powering a Naomi mainboard.

Capcom I/O can't power a Tri-Force/Chihiro either.

Oh I know what, I guess I worded my question wrong. I was either planning on just powering the GD-ROM from the ATX supply, or powering both the motherboard and GD-ROM from the ATX supply. I know already the Capcom I/O won't handle both. If I were doing both, I was just going to add pins on the female side of the ATX motherboard plug in the cab to output to NAOMI, otherwise just use the 4-pin HDD/CD one. I guess it doesn't matter, it'd probably be best doing the latter to save trouble.

How I did it, colors are standard PC, i.e black=gnd, red=5v, yellow=12v.

Some kind of extension cable I got with a PC motherboard, GD connector from segashed.

It's teh facts. This should be stickied.

Actually, I'll bold this in the faq

I plan on doing a little mini-faq on the ATX conversion, going through where/what to get, how to measure your voltages, getting your pinouts right, etc etc. Assuming my parts from the geezer stop partying in New York(they have them for like a week now, I hate USPS), and i don't get delayed in Dublin, I'll be doing the work this weekend.

Anyone think that would be useful? If so, would anyone be willing to proof it once I'm done?

Thanks
