Ikaruga: Is it a two-button or three-button game?

Wanted to add something to this old thread.

I've read that Radiant Silvergun for Sega ST-V also by Treasure is a 2 button game on US bios and 3 on JP. The controls are dumbed down for US players.

So Ikaruga being a 2 button game on US bios might be very well true. If in case Ikaruga doesn't run on US bios at all you can ignore my comment.
