well, I guess I pat myself on the back a little too soon...so here's the deal: in 1P game all the controls are fine...however, then my wife decided it was time to whoop my butt at project justice and we noticed that it seems as though the kicks are connected. That is to say, if I hit a kick both players kick. Likewise if my wife hits a kick both players kick...Meaning we can't play 2P games(although for the record she did manage to tear me a new one using just punches-lol)...what's odd is that on anything other than the naomi that problem is not present so it has to be something with the naomi I'm thinking. Any ideas? It's just a standard jamma controller config from the harness, except the normally unused pins are now used for button 5. I use the same setup for the 5th button on time killers and it works fine(well, in all honesty I've had one or two people tell me it seemed like they would sometimes attack when they weren't hitting a button-but I have never noticed this personally)...so is it the naomi or should I check my wiring? whatcha think fellas?
{EDIT}
In the interest of giving as much info as possible I've done some testing(i.e. fooling around) and here is what I know(ain't much-lol)-
[about the cab]
The cab is a 6 button setup with the 4,5,6 btns(kicks) connected to kick harness(4 & 5 are also connected to jamma ofr games that support it).
The naomi and cab run on seperate power supplies(jamma pwr supplies lights etc while naomi pwr goes to naomi). OK...
[back to the problem at hand]
buttons 4 & 5
buttons are the same on each side...that is, both would be light kick for example.
buttons affect both players...that is, hit one on one side and both players react.
Also, I disconnected the wiring for btn 5 from jamma harness and I get the same problem? how is that even possible? makes me think it's bad wiring but it can't be that as all other boards don't do this...
I went back and tested time killers again and it never does this even though it uses the same wiring for btns(basically).
also svc chaos(jamma board) does not do this either(although it only uses btns 1-4...but I figure if it were my wiring then btn 4 would still act the same..to that end, I triple checked all my control wiring and there are no bridges or shorts that would cause this sort of thing...
so I think, well I have another naomi cart I can try that...same thing happens.
Again, I can plug any other board into this cab(including tekken 4 which also uses an IO card) and do not have this problem....it seems to be only with the naomi...
I go into service mode and check the controls...sure enough btns 4&5 seem to act in the same register on both player sides simultaneously...
weird, huh?
So anyways, I'm fresh outta ideas here...need help big time on this one. Thanks!
Doh! Just when I thought I had it(odd controls problem)

Welcome from the SRK forums, check your harness connections from the following site:

If it matches up, then we'll go from there
Yeah; that's the IO card I have...thanks for the replies by the way.
BTW I did some tests at lunch...the second naomi has the same problem, but that one is verified to NOT do it on its own cabinet...so I decide to hook back up to my test rig(modified supergun)...the supergun does not seem have the same problem...mind you I do not have 5th button connection on supergun active, but btn 4 functions indepently like its supposed to...so it's probably GOT to be something in the cabinet wiring(regardless of all the other boards working) then right? Go figure this is the one cab I have that I did not completely rewire, but it's a 33" monitor that supports the naomi's hires output so obviously I want to use it...anyhoo, I have not had time to check the cab's wiring thoroughly yet, but upon a quick look it seemed like all the buttons and controls share a common ground(hard to tell whoever wired this didn't do a very good job)...could it be something like that causing this you think?
