Finally getting aroung to sorting through my collection o' stuff...
I have a Choco Maker GD-ROM and Security IC...
Tried it in a known good working Naomi 2 GD ROM System...
Tried both US and JPN BIOS...
Problem is NAOMI2 boots, goes through the process of loading GD into DIMM, then boots into test menu everytime (Same w/ US and JPN BIOS)....
Exit test menu, game reboots, then goes back into test menu...
All test menu items work at both system test menu and game test menu...
Beach Spikers and Puyo Puyo Fever GD-ROM's work fine on same system...
Have not tried on NAOMI1 setup yet...
Any Ideas?
Thanks

Choco Maker will not Boot

Thanks Josh,
Sounds like I am not alone with this issue so probably not security IC.
I removed my coinbox so I will have to find it and pull the coin counter.
Any other games besides Choco Maker that you think might have this issue?
I was going to try on NAOMI1, Have you tried NAOMI1?
Thanks
Bob

Hi Gilles,
I've played around with 1Player/2player
I do have it set on free play.
I've tried reset default data.
I tried changing a couple settings randomly but this is just trial and error with no success.
If you have any suggesttions let me know
Thanks

Not really. I would test what josh said about attaching a coin counter.

Darn...
This may be tough to test w/o some hacking...
I have a US cabinet that I have swapped out loom to get JPN Tyco Connectors...
Coin counter is in cabinet not coin box so thats good
but...
Coin counter is connected to old loom that is pretty much just lying in cabinet. :smt011
New loom brings out a 6 pin connector with
Digital Inputs (60pin JST RH connector)
---------------------------------------------------------
08 Yellow (+5V) <-Its a yellow wire not sure if it is really pin 8 but all yellow wires are (+5V) so probably does not matter.
49 Black (Coin Meter 1)
50 Black/White (Coin Meter 2)
Any easy way to spoof a coin counter?
Can I just jumper Black and Yellow wire?
Or maybe put a resistor in between Black and yellow wire?
Or do I need to actually make connections down to coin counter from JPN loom?
Josh, any confirmation that coin meter needs connected?
Any Ideas?
Thanks

Use any +5v from pin location 1 to 9
Simply loop the +5 to pin 49 and in the middle put a 100ohm resistor.
Never heard of a game not booting/working without a coin counter, the only time you need to-do the above is if you want a working coin mech (otherwise coin inserts will not be registered).
Service credits and freeplay should always work.
Infact I know that game should work on freeplay just fine..
If anyone can name one game that doesn't boot without a coin meter I'll eat my hat..

I'll give it a try hopefully this weekend.
(I may even just wire up the coin counter just to see it work)
Geezer, Any other ideas what the issue might be?
Thanks
