Hello!

I understand that it is not a big problem to connect the DC in a naomi cab but how do you do when it comes to the controller? Is it possible to connect the naomi panel to the dc ?

thanks

There is a pcb that acts as a type of jamma adapter. It has 2 wires that connect to players 1&2 and a video port for converting the Dreamcast output to arcade monitor type signal. As for where to get one? Someone else will have to answer that for you. :smt102

Its called an MGCD. They have models for Dreamcast, PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube. Here is one I have mounted to the top of my Dreamcast.

Most of the HK resellers have them (excellentcom, legend, ...)

My particular hack to the MGCD allows for both 15khz and 31khz, as well as overriding the annoying timer countdown.

Get

1 Dreamcast

1 VGA Box

2 PCBs from the Dreamcast Arcade Stick (or just 2 DC arcade sticks)

The easy method.

Use mains lead to power DC

Use VGA box to Monitor

On the DC sticks, open up & lengthen the cables which normally connect to the buttons / joysticks. Attach these to your control panel (maybe using a connector in between so using a CP for normal games is easier to swap), and then plug the pcbs from the sticks into the DC using the controller ports.

The harder way.

Remove PSU. Add JST connector wired to Naomi PSU & hard wire to contacts inside DC.

Solder DC stick PCBs to the underside of the controller ports, and then solder stick/button side to a JAMMA edge.

Add kick harness support if necessary.

Build DC to VGA convertor & mount in Modem housing (WIP)

Thanks johnny seems a good setup however I really wanna have it simple and easy :smt004

This MGCD looks pretty good to me! Now it s just to find one cause excellentcom doesn t seem to exist anymore and I cannot find legend.

About the VGAbox are they all similar or is it better to get the original sega version?

It's just a misspelling. Try this http://www.excellentcom.net/.

Sorry, I forgot that Excellentcom has the "Super" which is the same as an MGCD but their own proprietary software. If you want the original MGCD, I got mine from comsicco http://home.netvigator.com/~cosmicco/

Regarding the VGA adapter, since the DC outputs natvie VGA, the adapter is really just switching grounds and routing to the VGA port, so there is no difference in video quality. You will find differences in audio output (stereo headphone jacks with or without volume control). I prefer the Gameware Madness and Blaze DC VGABox personally because of the volume control.

Well I got an answer from Qweenie at the other place but she says the DC version for the MGCD is not produced anymore :smt010

Instead she says I should use a PS2 version and used PS2>DC adaptor for the controllers... Catastrophe !!!
