No subwoofer sound

A month or so ago I bought a Star Wars Racer Arcade Mini Deluxe setup, complete with Anakin's pod and all. This machine runs on the Hikaru, but everything I've read indicates that the rest of the hardware is identical to Naomi rigs (sound amps, IO boards, etc).

The main board has two sets of stereo rca outputs, the first outputs voices, announcer, music, etc. The second (which is listed in wiring diagrams as unused) outputs the sound that should be outputted through the subwoofer speaker, located under the seat.

The first set of outputs connect to the standard powered amp board, with wires going to the speakers, and a single rca jack going out to the subwoofer board.

Now, I'm handy enough with a multimeter and soldering iron, but that's about it. I was hoping to find this was a common(ish) problem with a common solution, prior to pulling the sides off the thing to get to the pot for the sub volume, which I suspect may be bad.

Does anyone have any words of wisdom to share?

Thank you very much
