dimm and gd drive

Well, I've got my naomi board up and running in with a cabinet. I've had them before but never used them in a cabinet so it's been a bit different but not too much so.
With that in mind I've picked up a gd and dimm, but seems I picked up some bad parts.
I guess the dimm board is bad as I only get a black screen with it installed. I've also taken it apart to try and reseat the top board but still get nothing.
So is that worth trying to have fixed or should I toss it. I don't know what type or model it is though but if someone knows how to figure that out and would share I can get the info or put up some pics.
Also without the dimm I guess I can't test the gd drive then? Should it do anything when given power? When I hooked it up, nothing happened, no fan, no noise, no spinny, no anything but a cool looking paperweight.
On a side note I think this is the loudest naomi board I have ever seen, it's like it has a jet engine rather than a fan or something the way it sounds.
