Swapping Model 2 for Model 3 or Naomi in Daytona cabinet?

Hi all.

I have four Daytona(1994) cabinets, and through cannibalizing I've managed to get ONE working. It seems that the Daytona PCB's are prone to error and hard to come by.

So, I'm thinking. Would it be possible to interface a Model 3 racing game instead of the Daytona Model 2 PCB? Or maybe interfacing a Naomi system?

Is the Naomi mobo born with inputs for a pot wheel and pedals?

What do you think, would the be feasible?

Thanks,

Nicholas

Naomi won't work with the standard I/O (won't work with a JVS I/O not present). You need the I/O that comes with the driving cabs. I assume andygeezer would have what you need at the shed.

Thanks!

What I meant was, that I'm willing to take everything out of the

Daytona cabinet sans monitor, wheel + pedals.

I'll shoot Andy a mail:)

Sure you can, now the budget (and part listing) will differ following what game you want to run!

Well, let's say 18 wheeler, Jambo Safari or AlienFront...any racing

game will do :)

So, I just ordered the Naomi + I/O. But I take it that the wheel and

pedals would go directly to the Naomi mobo?

Hmm

The easiest way to get other driving games into a Daytona 1 is to use the I/O filter board.

One side of the filter board has a 60 and 26pin 2 layer amp connectors

On the other side they have a two lots of of 25pin JST connectors.

I would then buy 2 x 25pin JST NH connectors and pins and then wire them to the various game boards (Model 3 filter/NAomi I/O etc).

That way you don't have to hack the loom.

18wheeler remember that uses a belt optical wheel so no good for driving cabs.

And the Pedals/Wheel go to the Naomi I/O on the 26pin connector (Analogue).

Thanks Andy!

Does it matter if it's a capcom or a sega I/O?

And do you have the parts we might need to make this work?

Thanks,

Nicholas

capcom IOs have no analog inputs, you defo need sega V1 (non jamma one). Some games like F355 or nascar WILL need rev 2.

Actually, the Capcom I/O has the same analog type connector as the Sega Jamma I/O. Although I'm not 100% positive, I'd say that it could accept analog inputs.

Hey !

Is this what I need for analog interfacing? without jamma etc.
