Monkey Ball on a standard JAMMA cab

Post by OldFoo »

Trying to play Monkey Ball on a GD ROM set up with a JAMMA JVS I/O in a standard JAMMA cab (was a ST-V cabinet) and joystick will not work. Saw the other posts here but not sure I understand. Can my standard joysticks be hooked up to the JAMMA I/O and work (if so what pins on the 56 pin connector) or will I have to use the analogue I/O?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :D

Monkeyball is analogue only, so you are going to have to get yourself the Sega I/O. I think that the Sega Jamma I/O Mk.2 (the one in black) might have the inputs that you require, but using a straight forward JVS I/O is going to be much cheaper and simpler.

I have the JAMMA I/O since I was running Tennis in the same cab. My I/O has part number 838-13683-02. I do have an analogue I/O as well but would need to find the 26 & 60 pin connectors to wire it in so it would be easier if it would work with the JAMMA I/O.

If I use the analogue I/O will the game work with regular 8 way joysticks? I saw some other posts that almost led me to believe I needed to use a potetiometer joystick.

Thanks again.

You do, the game controls are all analogue, not digital.

Ok, thanks. So I just need to know what pins from either I/O board go to the center tap on the pots.

Yeah, but depending on which Jamma I/O you have, you may not have those inputs on your I/O. The Sega Mk.1 and Capcom both definitely do not have analogue input.

Which one do you have?

Capcom does not have Analogue Input, but the Sega Mk1 Rev B definitely does. Also, I'm sure the Rev A has as well.

Piccy from main site (The analogue connector is the black HDD looking connector)

Ah yeah, I forgot about that connector being on there. I take it that its the same connector thats on the Sega JVS I/O then? Should be a simple case of getting the pinouts and just getting the appropriate connector/loom then?

Mine looks just like the one in the picture. I see it now on the universal wiring diargram, center taps for pots to pins 3 & 9 on CN7, thanks!

As far as I know, the large connector on the non-jamma I/O is for digital signals only. The smaller connector is for all analog inputs.

One thing that confuses me though... The Capcom I/O has a connector that looks like a analog connector on it. Is it not used for this as well?
