Sega-Naomi

When hooking up my GDrom system, I came up with this error when the actual game started to load. Now I know that my usb cable is all beat to hell, but I want to make sure if that is the reason this error would come up or if it's something else? Of course, I don't have another laying around to test.

BTW, I appreciated all of the old posts about adding a wall plug to the Sun psu. Instead of having to ask, I found it just by doing a little searching and hooked it up without any issues, until now.

If the Naomi cannot communicate with the I/O, it will give you this message no matter what else is connected to the system. There are a couple of exceptions to this rule, buy this is the usual message.

So what you are saying is that this is the problem that I mentioned. Forgive me if I seem a little retarded about it, but I figured it was either the usb or the serial cable because that is all that is connected from the i/o to the mobo.

It could be the problem. Have you connected power to the I/O? The I/O doesn't get power from the USB cable.

I have the JAMMA harness going to the Sega I/O. Do I need power from somewhere else, or would that be enough? :smt017 Based on the info in this post http://www.sega-naomi.com/forum/viewtop ... omi+wirind, it seems that I don't need to connect any other power source to it.

As the mentioned post says, if you have power coming through the Jamma harness then you don't need to connect any other power inputs. However, if the Jamma harness does not supply power (12/5v), like some Naomi setups, then you need to connect power with a JST connector from the SUN psu if available. The best way to find out is to use a volt meter to determine the presence of power in the I/O.
