New Naomi Owner with Problems

I posted on KLOV, and someone suggested this site.

Got a World Series '99 in a converted cab that's not working. Previous owner said it was working and then all of the sudden stopped. The game will turn on, I can hear the drive "loading", but there is no image or game sounds. The monitor has raster.

I started by checking the fuse in the powers section and that was fine. Next, tested the voltages of the the power supply and all tested fine. The audio Amp LED is light. I tested a jamma board, and it worked.

Is there anything else to check before assuming it's the mobo?

I have the Sega I/O version B.

Thanks,

Theron

try the mobo with no game / DIMM board in it. You should get an error screen

Tried it without the DIMM and still getting the same results. The screen is just showing a raster with no error messages or anything. I'll check the traces between the 8 pin eeprom and the Altera chip next. Any other thoughts in the mean time?

Thanks,

Theron

If you are getting nothing even without the cart, then it looks like your Naomi is fried. If you find a bad trace then that's easy enough to fix, but you are more likely going to have to buy a new one since it's not worth the money to fix it. :smt045
