Connecting Naomi system to JAMMA Cab

Post by OldFoo »

Hi im sort of new to all this arcade stuff and im definitely new to NAOMI stuff.

I just bought this on ebay ---->http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... otohosting

From reading the auction it seems to have everything needed to run on a jamma cab ?

I have a Killer instinct Jamma cab and im not too sure how to connect this naomi i just bought to it.

What confuses me is the jamma connector thats connected to the jamma bit on the i/o board you can see it in the pic in the auction near the bottom. Theres a lot of different plugs and connectors coming from that that i assume needs to be plugged into things but i also thought that my jamma cab should be plugged into the i/o board ?

Do i just unplug that jamma harness from the i/o board then plug my jamma cab in there ? i have tryed this and nothing happend so i assume i need to connect the naomi psu to my jamma psu some way too ?

70 quid? Great price, congrats!

That's a complete naomi system you got there. The jamma connector just goes on the i/o as you already found out. The naomi psu should also be powered up which feed the naomi mobo. Just plug it in an outlet or something.

thanks for the quick reply :D

im in my bed now so will try it again tomorrow after work.

I still dont understand what the jamma harness type thing that came with it is for ? its a jamma connector with lots of different types of plugs and sockets ? Is that for connecting it to a normal naomi cab ?

Oh and the power suply dosnt have a normal plug it has some kind of connector can i just cut that off and stick a normal 240 plug on it ? or will my arcade psu maybe have a connector for that ? also I bought my cab with a 1000 in 1 pcb so the atx supply for that is in there to connected to the arcade psu so maybe that will have a connector i could use ?

I will just have to remove all the stuff in my cab tomorrow to have a closer look at the 2 supplys and see what i can do :)

Thanks for confirming its a complete system as i thought there must be something missing due to the price i got it for but looking at the title of the auction there is no mention of NAOMI so that could be why i got it so cheap :)

I assume it's 240v as you bought it in the UK. You cannot just use another psu because it needs modifying. (which is not nessecary as you have the original psu that came with it)

What kind of plug/connector is on it now then? Don't just cut it off before somebody can identify it.

Dunno about the jamma connector you're referring too. Also have to see this. This setup as it is now is ment for jamma only. You just have to find a way to fire up the psu which can't be that hard. :)

Normaly inside a naomi cab you got the mobo, i/o, amp and psu all mounted inside the cab. This is what we call a JVS system, no jamma there.

Just to emphasize what goatboy said, don't ASSUME that it's 220v - it could be 110v if it's from a cab with a stepdown converter. Would be a shame to blow it up, as it seems like a really nice kit you have there - bargain at that price.

This is the connector on the power supply i forgot to check the voltage

when i had it out but can see from this pic its 110v so i will need a transformer.

Sorry about the huge size of the picture i shoudl have resized it !

Its ok now i changed it to a thumbnail.

Here is a couple of pics of the jamma harness thing that came with it and was actually plugged into the i/o board and has all the different connectors on it.

When looking at it more carefully it seems the only things actually connected to the system is an earth and what i think is the 2 speaker wires coming from the amp ( I think ).

Looks like the thing that i think is part of the amp needs to be plugged into something to ?

EDIT:Just seen this site and i think maybe this is the connector i will need for the power supply then stick the other end into a transformerhttp://triplemoonstar.brinkster.net/seg ... ockid=1774

Also seen another connector that says something about being able to use an atx supply wich i already have in my cab for my 1000 in 1 wich i coudl possibly do instead ? the atx supply my have enough spare supplys as i only need one from it to supply the 1000 in 1 and one for the HDDhttp://triplemoonstar.brinkster.net/seg ... ockid=2062

Ok, That's all beyond my knowledge. Quite a few wires you got there. :)

Hello guys, Maybe someone else could give him some technical help here?

hi! you don't need all the wires.

see the pic:

connect 110V transformer to PSU and audio PSU (red) if you cannot find same connector, cut them and use more commons plugs.

connect the white connector from the audio amplifier to the jamma I/O board 2 pins connector as show in the pic. (yellow)

set naomi board dip switch No. 1 to 15k video resolution (dip switch ON)

connect little white connector for audio regulation to audio amplifier (green)

after that, you can connect the jamma i/o board to your KI cabinet and play :)

don't you already have one as shown in the pics?

If not I have a spare you can have for $5+shipping...the plugs are cut off but otherwise it's fine...and it's cheap. ;p
