Help : No boot with virtua figther 4 cart

Post by OldFoo »

Hello,

I have a problem with a virtua figther 4 cartridge. When I plug it in my naomi 2 system, there is no boot (black screen, no error message). What kind of test, can I do to know what happens ?

Others cartridge operate without any problem.

Well, pressing the Test button in your cab will bring up the System Test Mode :-)

If a game is inserted, and recognised, the name of the game will be displayed in the menu, along with options for testing.

But check the obvious things first: Check if the cart is physically o.k.: clean, undamaged, etc.

Check the manual posted here for more info: http://www.sega-naomi.com/resources/man ... manual.pdf (It is the manual for the GD-ROM system, but contains basic Naomi info as well, like test menu's and stuff)

I will try the test button after work.

if it don t give you the splash screen or what so ever i probebly won t give you a test screen aswel .but if it does give you a splash screen then do as cage is saying and do the test menu and see if it is saying virtua fighter and then test te rom or take the case of the pcb look for creaks dust etc etc and clean it good ,test again if not then i think the card is bad or check for any broken or bended pins or check that the card isn t shorting somewhere :)

I tried to push test button with cartridge plug'in but there is no effect (black screen, no naomi 2 screen).

I didn't see problems on pins or other component on this cart. Game has worked only one time after an error 02 message (strange !!)

Have you checked your power supply output for 5V and 3.3v with a multimeter? Naomi is pretty sensitive to its power input..

Some news about my faulty cartridge.

Yesterday, I try again my cart and it works very well !!

I don't know where the problem comes from but I sure that he doesn't come fom connection between cart and mobo. In deed if cart is plug and game is working, I switch off. After 5 minutes I switch on and there is a probability that game doesn't work.

When game is started, it works very well and as long as you want.

What do you think about my problem ?

Have you checked the voltage levels for 3.3V and 5V? If not, try that first.

Make sure that they are not too far off.
