Sega-Naomi

I have a MvC2 cart running on my Naomi which has a Japanese BIOS installed. When the game boots up it says for use in Japan, I was wondering if the region was due to the BIOS being a Japanese BIOS, and if I switch it to an American BIOS would it change the region?
