Strange Hack Job...

I am not exactly sure what is going on here. There is a green wire connecting random capacitors, chips and circuits together. The board seems to boot up alright, except that it gives me the 'ol error 01. I don't believe it is caused by the wiring/hot glue though. The cart seats crooked in the cartridge slots.
Maybe there isn't hope for getting it working (unless someone else has a trick they were able to pull off with a crooked sitting cartridge.) I am a bit curious about the past of this unit though. The enclosure is warped in shape; not enough to visually notice, really, but it hinders a cartridge from sitting on the motherboard even more. It was a pain getting the top and bottom enclosure pieces to slide back into each other too.
I'd be interested in hearing stories of similar situations the rest of you might 've had in the past. As for me, I'll either try to return it to the seller or send it off to repair.
