Dreamcast Controllers -> Naomi

Someone told me there were a couple of connectors or solder points on the Naomi MB which could be used to install a DC controller jack (a cut DC controller extension cable), essentially - is that true?

That's true, but you don't necessarily need to solder the wires since the headers are available. Take a look below:

Hack off the ends of Dreamcast keyboards and make the connections. Since the connections on the Naomi are pin headers, you may want to source the proper plastic connectors.

That's pretty cool! Which titles have VM-kit support? And the controllers won't work with any other titles? Or do the games not allow for the controllers to be used during gameplay at all?

Not really. There are only around 3 games that support this function and they're mostly from CAPCOM. Much of the reason being not many cabs actually had the panel that has these connections. :smt009

So, one could set up MVC2 to allow for people to use DC controllers as the input method, or is it only for VMU access?

Never tried it, but CvS2 and Zero 3 Upper work with it, though it might be just custom character colours from the VMU or something like that. I believe that Project Justice and MvC2 have some kind of functionality (don't quote me on that though!)

Testing, testing

Ok, today I have been testing, and the games that i've got to work with a dreamcast controller are:

Capcom vs Snk Pro

Capcom vs SnK 2

Project justice

Street fighter zero 3 upper.

I was able to play all the games fully with the controller, but only project justice and zero 3 had other functions activated by the VM inserted. I am unsure as to what these functions are as I am running a jap bios, language problems.

Giga wing 2 has no option for controller support.

Hmm! CVS2 is of interest. MVC2 was a no-go?
