error 01

hello i was hoping u guys could help me out i have a naomi 1 system and im getting the "01 error this game is not acceptable by main board" now ive tried to pull out the cartrige and place it back in but im still getting the same error doese this mean my cart is bad or is there something more serious wrong i dont have another cart to try so i hope u guys can help me determine which is bad :smt017

Hi, and welcome
Most probably a cart problem. Check if the voltages to your Naomi are correct (5V, 3.3V), and check if you can access the test menu and if you can test the cart.

There have been reports that if you turn up the +5v too high (over 5.2 v) that you risk damaging the buffer chips.
I have a NAOMI 1 system here for testbed use and have replacement buffers in stock. If the buffers are bad, I can replace them.

yes i can get to the test menu i did a test on the rom (im asuming its the cart) and i got 0 all across the board and it says unkown

what are buffer chips and ill go checck the voltages the cabinet was originally a soul calibur deluxe machine and i took out the game and swaped it for the naomi with the capcom i/o for it i hope i didnt inadvertantly cook it cause of my ignorance (i didnt know about this site till after i hooked it up)

ok i checked the voltages i hope i did it right heres what i got
[] [] [] [] are all ground (black wires)
0 0 0 0
[] [] []
3.31 5.19 11.73
brown red yellow
these reading were taken from the conecter that plugs directly to my naomi from the capcom i/o converter

Turn that 5.19 down to 5.10
Sounds like the buffers are cooked on the cart. They are a bunch of tiny surface mount chips with LOTS of hair like legs on them.

ok but how do i do that ive never done anythinglike that and to check the buffers is that something i can check if so how i really do apreciaate the help though

No. The buffer chips are surface mount components and need to be removed and replaced.

ok rj how how can we get them replaced im willing to ship it to u if u can fix it just let me know also is it worth doing or just find another cart as for the power supply it doesnt have adjustments on it would it be inside the casing?
