Since about a month, sometimes on startup of my Confidential mission I get error code 23 and recently 25. Mostly the game boots after 1 or a few resets.

I already took a look at the GD-rom drive, but it is properly shut.

Is my drive faulty, or what can be the problem?

sounds like a knackered decoder/drive board on the gdrom drive

What would you suggest? Could it be repairable? Are there certain components on this pcb which are known to fail regularly? Can the board be bought or should I replace the GC-rom?

could be just the cover switch faulty,you could bridge it out to prove

Good idea! And as long as I don't open the cover while running, this does not do any harm I suppose?
