Nanao MS29-32 monitor TESTING

I have a Nanao MS29-32 monitor that I need to work on.
Can I use a program on a notebook to transmit a signal to the monitor through the VGA connector?
What I need is something I can use to test the monitor to see the screen for testing and adjusting as necessary.
As previously posted, this monitor is from a House of the Dead 2 system.
Grantspain and others were terrific in helping me diagnose the monitor while it was in the cabinet.
Now I need to take the monitor out of the cabinet and bench test it. Would make life so easy if I could generate a pattern or picture off a notebook to then work on the monitor.
Again, thanks for everyone's feedback and support!
