DIMM Board Battery

Post by OldFoo »

Hi,

Can anyone suggest a location for buying a new battery for the DIMM board?

Cheers

Is there a recommended mAh rating for the batteries used for the DIMM board??

Getting a pair of 14500 3.6v li-ion batteries is easy, it's just there are a few different mAh ratings. Does it really matter, or will the higher powered ones just last a bit longer?

I assume that the GD is loaded onto the DIMM board when every new game is inserted, so having a new battery will not help for game swaps. Also, how long does a GD take to load onto the DIMM???

I'm half thinking about not using the battery, as I don't tend to have time to play the same game 3 or 4 days in a row, so don't think I would get the advantage of having the game pre-loaded just yet.

How longs a piece of string?

Depends on game title.

The term mAh stands for 'milli-amp hours'. The higher the rating, the longer it takes to fully charge, the longer it lasts per charge. Other than that, each battery works exactly the same. :smt023

Final Tuned seems to take the longest out of my games, I did put Capcom Vs SNK 2 recently in and was surprised how quick it loaded.

Just depends on the amount of data on the GD-Rom.

Does that mean all DIMM boards have the same amount of RAM, or does the later .NET DIMM have more (mine says 256MB)?

Ikaruga is the quickest as its only 17.5mb it takes about 20-30 secs inc the memory check & re-boot.
