Monitor question.

Can an svga signal be displayed on a 31k monitor?

My Naomi cab has a sharp image 27" monitor running at 31k (don't know if it supports more, how do I tell?)

I'd like to try hooking up my mame pc to see how it runs, but the pc only goes as low as 800x600 (it's currently hooked to a Sony computer CRT monitor)

Can I:

1. Run svga on the 31k monitor.

Or

2. Find out if sharp image supports higher resolutions?

Or

3. Somehow make the pc output reg VGA

And will I jack anything up if I connect it all up?

Thanks guys,

Casey

I am assuming you are running xp on the mame machine. as standard XP hides modes below 800x600

to get to the 640 x 480 mode right click on your desktop and go to "Properties", "Settings", "Advanced", "Adaptor", "List All Modes"

you should find 640 by 480 True Color, 60Hz in the list.

Thanks ya kindly!!!

I just did it on my mame pc monitor, I'll get it going on the Naomi cab ASAP

But I still hafta check some things out.

I heard a click when the pc change resolutions going from the front end into mame when launching the game, so I changed the mame.ini to be 640x480 too, but now it's, mmm, letterboxed? And squished. siiigh I haven't dicked with mame in too long, and I know this isn't the place...

To the googles!

Edit: got it!
