Dead Trifoce Type1

Post by OldFoo »

Anybody have any ideas were to look? I see the 5v and 3.3v LEDs are lit.

Trying to dismantle, doesn't look easy, got half the shroud off.

Possible dead GC? Will a stock Retail GC Board fit in place ?

according to mamedev its a standard gc?

The triforce uses a standard stock Game Cube, but the IPL is different.

Once I repaired a Triforce Type 3 Motherboard changing the GC PCB BOARD with a stock one, and changing the IPL, using the IPL ROM from the dead GC.

But in the Trifroces, generally the problems are not the GC PCB, normally the problems are in the BASE BOARD and generally related to the power supply of the GC, that is generated by the BASE BOARD.

On a stock GC there is a small power supply pcb that generates the required voltages by the GC Motherboard, including the 3.3V for the Processor, but in the Triforce, the power supply of the GC PCB, is integrated in the BaseBoard.

If you do replace the GC Board with a stock retail one, make sure it's not a DOL-101. These won't work in the Triforce since the powersupply was intergrated into the main board, so it couldn't connect to it. Just saying.
