Connecting a twin old Outrunner cabinet with a Chihiro (jvs)

Post by OldFoo »

A friend recently gave me as a present an old twin cabinet , Outrunners from 1992 and i would like to convert it to the JVS standard.

I need to do some obvius things, like change the monitor to tft/lcd and change the power supply.

My doubt now is how to conect the controls. I have:

Analogs

1:Wheel1. W1

2:Wheel2. W2

3:Acelerator2. A1

4:Acelerator2. A2

5:Brake1. B1

6:Brake2. B2

Digitals

1:Gear up1. GU1

2:Gear down1. GD1

3:Gear up2. GU2

4:Gear down2. GD2

Start and some other buttons like views o actions buttons.

Let?s start with the analog controls, if we see the 26 pines (below), some are obvius other don?t.

Let me guess:

1-2 5v

3-4 W1 and W2.

5-6 Ground

7-8 Not Connected

9-10 A1 and A2

11-14 Not connected.

15-16 B1 and B2.

17-18 Not connected

19-20 5v, again.

21-22 What is this?

23-24 Ground

25-26 Not conected

Am I correct? Can be conection with 1 I/O a twin machine?

Sorry for my english...

Regards.

Hi,

No you are wrong.

You have a twin machine but is the same as two individual machines, linked with a comunication cable.

You need two motherboards, two I/Os PCBS, two power Supplys, two monitors, two FFB PCBS, etc.

And if you want to connect them togheter, in case of Chihiro or Trifroce, a crossed ethernet cable or a small Ethernet HUB and two patch cables.

Thanks for your quick response. I have another question, what does it mean each pin of the analog conector?

I will use 2 I/O, but i need to know what is expecting the I/o in:

03 (AD 0)

04 (AD 4)

09 (AD 1)

10 (AD 5)

15 (AD 2)

16 (AD 6)

21 (AD 3)

22 (AD 7)

In principle, there are pins for 8 pots.

Thanks.

You need to check the manual of the Game you want to play.

Each game uses the Analog I/Os in different way, but normally the steering wheel uses the same Analog I/O channel and the pedals uses normally the same Analog I/O channels in most of the Driving games.

And do we know the usuals for the wheel, brake and gas?

As the digital is used fot 2 players, i assumed that the analog would be the same. What a pity.
