dimm board not working

Post by OldFoo »

Hi,

I bought a Dimm board recently which arrived saterday and it doesn't work. When I insert the dimm in my Naomi mobo and I turn it on the screen stays black. Running the Naomi without cart works and with 2 different carts also works perfectly.

Checked my voltages and they're 5.12, 3.29 and 12.13

Seller sold it to me as working and he sent me pictures from the test menu of a working dimm before I bought it, so it should be fine.

Bought a dimm board before which was broke (error 22) but at least gave me a screen showing the error. This one does nothing at all.

Tried to clean the dimm (a lot of white wash on the bottom of the pcb) and reseated it several times to make sure it connects good.

Any suggestions what to do?

Thanks in advance

There are screws on the bottom of the Dimm. Remove them and the blue top comes off. Try reseating the memory to see if that is the problem.

Where did you buy it from?

Already tried to attach the dimm without memory and reseating and so on.

Bought it from here, but already agreed with the seller that I can send it back.

Is it a netdimm ?

On mine, i have to wait 30/40 seconde before showing boot screen.

I have this delay, since i have put jumper dimm in network config.

Maybe you don't wait enough time before shuting down the cab ?

Andy, is it possible to remove this delay ?

IF you set the networking to none it will speed it up a few seconds, but not much you can do - can't remember if you use an old top board will speed it up as it removes the networking (yet VF4FT will still work).

Nope, it's not a net dimm. Since I can't get it to work I contacted the seller that I want to return it. I'll let you guys know like Andy asked.

With wrong dip setting (Netboot setting) it just shows blackscreen...

It works just fine.

GDROM status is bad because I have no drive to test with atm.

Don't think 1.02 dimm boards have network setttings, cause they don't even have network controller on there..
