Capcom I/O Power Issues

I'm having some strange power issues with my capcom io and certain games. Specifically, has anyone else had trouble with virtua tennis gd-rom? I've got my seperate naomi power supply hooked up, but with the capcom io i'm lucky if i can get to the character select screen before i get an io board error. Swap the io out for the crappy sega one and no problems (but no frikin sound either!).



I'm guessing that upping the 5v might solve the problem, but i'm yet to try it as its not particularly easy to get to the psu in my impress and in fact I don't even know if it has voltage adjustment pots?



I know different games can require different amounts of juice, but I'm miffed as to why virtua tennis gd-rom would be one of the more demanding? Has anybody else experienced these kind of issues?

Upping the +5v line should fix this, the GD-rom requires a bit more juice.

I know you can up the +5v to try and run everything off the one psu, but my naomi and gdrom are already running off the seperate sega psu...



I'm utterly miffed as to why this game gives me an io board error with the capcom io. None of my other gdrom games do this... is virtua tennis gdrom just incompatible with the capcom io!?

The Capcom I/O needs power too as it has a built in sound amp, I had a similar problem until I upped my cabs psu.

Seems very odd to me, the capcom io should be getting all the power it needs from the jamma harness. I've got 6 other gdrom games and not a single one of them gives me this problem, just virtua tennis. It doesn't make any sense that this one gdrom would make the io board suck more power... :smt017



Anyway guess I've just gotta suck it and see, very annoying as it means I have to turn into a contortionist to get at the one adjustment pot on my psu, which is unlabeled, in the hope that it is for +5v and I can turn it the right way by blind luck!!

It's probably not a hardware problem. Just like a home computer, if a game needs more processing power (especially compled 3d games), than it will need to draw more supply voltage. This would be a reason why some gd-rom games work (most 2d and some 3d) and others don't.

As has been said before you need to turn your Voltage up, I run my Naomi 2 GD rom setup all powered by the Capcom IO but on my Neo cab I had to increase the voltage to 5.5 Volts or else certain games locked up. The strange thing is on my Impress the Naomi2 ran fine with no problems and I have the Impress power supply set at 5.1 Volts.



I also think the Naomi1 uses more power thean the Naomi2 board.
