Supergun Question and hookup

Ok Newbie here.



I bought a Supergun from D-Lite it has the following specs:



# Component video outputs (JROK inside)

# RGB adjustment controls

# JAMMA and CPS2/3 Kick harnesses

# Neo Geo controller compatible

# Wired for 6-buttons and Atomiswave output

# +5V/+12V power supply (not pictured, but included with original box)

# Stereo/Mono switch

# Audio attenuation on/off switch

# Mono audio on/off switch

# Coin 1 and Coin 2 buttons

# Test and service buttons

# Sync separation circuit and switch

# Power on LED (light purple)





D-Lite is also going to build me a couple 6 button controllers for the supergun.





My questions is....



How can I play other games ? such as Marvel VS Capcom 2?



what would I need? Just the mother board?

Plug and play?

Superguns make connecting arcade pcb's really easy. You connect the jamma connector to the edge connector of your pcb, and that's pretty much it. If you have a game like Street Fighter 2, you will have to connect the 'kick harness' which allows the extra 3 buttons to be used. It is simple and straight forward. :smt023

For MVC2 you will need the mobo + Capcom I/O.

Awsome. Mine does have the Kick harness.



sounds like when I buy my game Ill need to make sure the



Mobo comes with it.



Is it common for games like Marvel VS Capcom2 to be sold



without the motherboard? What would be the purpose of



selling without it?

It is very common. You don't want to keep buying the same mobo with every cart. There are those who already have the equipment to play the carts don't need more mobos. This is only true with multi-component systems like Naomi, NEO-GEO and CPS2. Most others will be dedicated PCB's that will play only one game. These would be the simplest to connect. ;)

Just remember you also need the Capcom I/O as RGP said, you'll end with a set-up similar to this:

MvC2 will not work with any other I/O? :smt017 How about I/O ver.2? I wish I had this game to try it out. :smt102

It would also work with another I/O like the Sega one, the problem is that in this case using a regular JAMMA supergun would be quite difficult, you would need a PSU that can also supply 3.3V, like an ATX one. Regular superguns don't supply 3.3V because JAMMA games don't need it.



However, using a PSU that can directly deliver 3.3V is quite convenient.
