very few monitor hold significant charge without power, you will fine if you unplug the cab wait 5 mins then carefully relocate the plug.

just be careful in your movements i.e don't karate chop the tube neck

i would not recommend gloves as you will possibly slip whilst moving the plug but you must do what you feel is right

If it was me, I would use the doctor-style latex gloves. Dish washing gloves would also work if not too floppy as you might have some difficulty handling things (like grantspain mentioned).

AndyGeezer wrote:Most likely a MS8, there is 2 rows of pins connectors in the middle of the chassis area, you have to disconnect it from one pin set to another.

For this, could you take a pic of the pins? I think I see what you're talking about in my cab, but I can't get a good look due to positioning. :(

Thanks!

edit: Large pic, figured I'd just post as a url instead.

In this pic, the two cables just to the left of the label are on two pins and there is one pin to the left of them. Is this what you're talking about? Pulling this connector off and shifting over by one pin?

Thanks for the help

I'm at work right now, but I think its a Nanao 2587.

I called Ken at irepairsega, I figured that since it was a dedicated cab, he'd be able to offer some advice. He was the one who told me it was a dedicated 31khz.

This has led me to a new question though. Again, please forgive my newbness, but does the monitor board or the tube itself determine the resolution/refresh rate capabilities?

This board here:

http://www.highway.net.au/parts/monitor ... /5373.html can be a replacement for the tube currently in my cabinet (the same tube that started this thread iirc). This board claims to do all 3 refresh rates.

If I were to replace my monitor board with this one, will it actually let me do 15khz? Its not a major issue, the monitor looks awesome as is, but if I end up keeping the cabinet, I want my 2d fighters in 15khz low-res. :P
