Capcom I/O -- What am I missing here??

Ok, so I finally got around to hooking up a kick harness(for mvc2) to the capcom IO I just got recently and I'm having a very weird issue with it....

on the 1P side everything works as it should...great.

On the 2p side, however, I can get nothing....absolutely nothing from the 3 kicks???

I've checked and re-checked the pinout and wiring and it seems fine...

further, the buttons work on everything else I have, including a cps2 of MVC1...and when I had the Sega IO they also worked...in point of fact, hook up my other boards and they still work fine...

IO is set to 2p, not 4p...I thought maybe it's beause I don't have the button grounds hooked into the IO....so hooked those into the kick harness and still nothing...

I'm really at a loss here...I can't think of anything else to check...this is my first capcom IO, so I'm not really familiar with it...

any ideas?? this is REALLY frustrating me...tia!

Are you certain that you connected your controls like this:

ok, here is where things get REALLY strange....although I was certain I had it right according to the manual and the capcom io demystified website...I decided to double check(again) upon your suggestion because I know you're good with all this stuff and I trust opinion...so here's what I did...

I wired a bare switch with 2 single plugs so I could ground it and then go down the pins 1 by 1 on the capcom IO to see which was which....and here is the weird part....it's backwards![?]

not my wiring...the plug on the IO itself....how friggin wierd is that??

actually it hardly matches the pinout in the manual at all, but I digress...

anyways, so now I have to re-wire my kick harness tomorrow to correct that but at least i found the friggin pins...but backwards plugs? how strange!

(either that or I am severely retarded-take your pick-but I swear to you the plug is backwards from the manual and pics I've seen...of course I'm possibly drooling with my finger up my butt while I say that...)

at any rate, thanks for the help, I'm happy to have it sorted and probably wouldn't have checked like that if you hadn't said something, so thanks again!

Strangely enough, Pin #1 is located on the top row on the right side nearest to the RCA connections. Pin #2 is just underneath that. IIRC, the top row contains the odd numbers and the bottom row has the evens. Weird? Yes. :smt102

Just an update here: it did work out once I re-wired it backwards. I even looked at the manual again and compared and it is indeed backwards from teh mvc2 manual i have...go figure!

at any rate, it works now so I'm happy

guess I'm only half retarded! ;p
