shadow mask problems can manifest in different ways but agreed normally you would see a wave of non uniform colours

have you tried moving the cab to another area?

CRT's are affected by magnetism, especially if you see discoloration. It could be that the static electricity that naturally collects on the screen is not being sent to ground. Check for a aluminum braid that is supposed to go around the screen and see if it is connected properly. :smt045

If the braid wasn't connected he would have more trouble as he would have no chassis ground and would probably end in a hissing and spitting anode...

Gilles when you unplugged the degauss did you unplug the degauss button or the the cable for the degauss coil that goes around the back of the CRT ?

Thanks for your comment about this. You immediatelly pointed the problem :smt038 and i must thank Dave_K for his precious help on this because he helped me to source the problem some days ago.

I disconnected the button instead of the degauss coil cable thats why i had no result. Disconnecting the good one fixed the problem immediatelly.
