Hi All,
I just bought a Naomi 2 with a DIMM board + GDROM. BIOS is 23605A.
When I power up the NAOMI, I get an error 01... :smt120
I get the same error when I power up the 'bare' NAOMI, so without the DIMM board attached. I do not have a ROM game to test, so I do not know yet if it will play ROM games.
Any help is highly appreciated.. I suspect my power supply might be the likely suspect: i cannot get the 5V and 12V exactly right. How sensitive is the NAOMI to its power input?
Error 01 on Naomi 2 without ROM/DIMM Board connected..??
If you connect the DIMM and GD, you should see the test for it. Not having a game in the GD drive could also cause this error just as if there was no cart connected. The problem could be anything from the DIMM not sitting correctly to it being fried. I am going to assume you haven't tried a GD game because you don't have one? You can make sure if you try running a game and see if you get the same results.
First, thank you for the input.
Fortunately, I do have several GD games I can test. When I tried running a complete setup with a GD game it failed with the same error.
Then I performed the following steps:
Fortunately, I do have several GD games I can test. When I tried running a complete setup with a GD game it failed with the same error.
Then I performed the following steps:
- - checked all pins on N2 and DIMM board. All were OK
- Opened up the N2, removed everything, disconnected the filterboard and cleaned everything with a little compressed air
- Put everything back in place, tried again, same error.
- Opened up the DIMM board, cleaned it, and reseated the DIMMS.
- Tried again, then error 26 appeared.. (I believe, do not remember exactly..)
- Checked my power supplies for 3.3, 5 and 12 volts. Adjusted the 3.3 power supply to 3.38, and on the other power supply I adjusted 5 to 5.15 and 12 to 12.6 volts (I have no direct influence on the output for 12 volt. adjusting the 5 volt output automatically adjusts the 12 volt output (there is only one adjustment potentiometer on that power supply, which is a HAPP Power Pro).
- And then... YES!! It booted! I tested the DIMM board and N2 RAM, all OK.
- Tried Virtua Tennis, and it now works like a charm.. :smt041
