I think I'm at a standstill.
I don't have a JVS cab, I have a Killer Instinct Midway JAMMA cabinet.
I'm trying to figure out what to connect my SUN PSU to, and don't see anyplace to connect it to.
Can anyone post pics of what I need to do here?
Thanks,
Steve
How do I connect my SUN PSU to my JAMMA cabinet?
Re: How do I connect my SUN PSU to my JAMMA cabinet?
ok, I don't use jvs either, so maybe I can help...can you provide me a pic of your power supply and the innards of your cab so I can make sure I'm telling you the right thing? that would be helpful...
on that note, are we talking about having two power supplies in this cab or just one?
In the case of two, the basic premise is to simply splice in the new one to the appropriate power lines so it comes on when you switch on the cab...(i.e. the same wires that turn on the other ps would be cut and spliced to run to both)...then of course only connect the new one to the extra devices you need to power, which as I understand it, in this case, is simply a gdrom...so shouldn't be too bad to do...anyway, get back to me with the pic(s) and I'll help you get it all connected...I have a cab with 2 in it so I can show you pics of the connections, etc. too once we get to that point...but I really would feel better being able to see your wiring and ps first...don't wanna make assumptions and see something blow up because I assumed something I shouldn't have after all.
also, if I can find somewhere to buy the plugs cheap enough I can make you one of those splitter things you wanted...will let you know if my usual sources have the plugs or not in the next day or so...unfortunately I'm short on spare parts right now so don't have the big female plug on hand.

distro blocks are for wussies! lol! :smt005 :smt005
joking! he's right in that if you have a distro block it should be super easy to get connected. my 2 ps cab doesn't use one cause I'm manly like that(or stupid; take your pick)

Re: How do I connect my SUN PSU to my JAMMA cabinet?
I'll post some pics this evening.
I looked at the power (whatever it is) at the base of my cabinet. I didn't see anything to plug the SUN PSU into, so, that's why I wasn't sure.
I will definitely post pics though - any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

Re: How do I connect my SUN PSU to my JAMMA cabinet?
ok; first thing...(assuming I'm understanding what you are saying)...there may not be a plug per se to just plug into most likely...you will probably have to cut wires that are there and splice extra wires into them in a worst case scenario(that's what I had to do)...but it's really not as bad as you might think...things you might need:
electrical tape(or shrink fit tubing would be better, but any port in a storm as they say... if you don't have either, you could also use duct tape)
wire cutters/strippers
wire, of course
soldering iron and some solder
and optionally I like to use flux paste but that's really not a neccessity, just makes it solder easier...
now bare in mind you can just wrap the wires together, but it's really really not ideal...anyhoo, we'll continue once you get the pics up...always happy to help out if I can...I'll start snapping some pics of my setup tonight for you as well...just bare in mind that this particular cab I'll be showing you is a work in progress, so it ain't all pretty to look at...so please don't judge!
