Error 22 troubleshooting procedure needed

Post by OldFoo »

Here's what I've done:

I changed the USB cable to a brand-spanking new one.

I've reseated the DIMM board.

I've tried a different motherboard.

The ROM test times out without any data gotten from the DIMM (0%).

Reseating RAM and daughterboard did not change anything.

Is there anything else that can be done short of sending it to irepairsega.com?

I cannot confirm at anytime it was in my possession that it worked.

Thanks.

Have you tried the 'search' function on here?, i'm sure there's been loads of threads concerning this.

Already tried taking apart the DIMM, and reseating the DIMMs? Or is this what you meant with reseating the RAM..?

Yes, that's what I meant.

I guess you also already checked for bent pins, dirt, etc..? :-)

Does the NAOMI boot successfully when a normal game cart is used?

Checked the SCSI cable and power to the GDROM unit?

Aside from getting an error code, does the game try to load? With the Dimm module installed, does the splash screen say "Naomi GD System"? If not, then there's a good possibility that the Dimm module is dead.

The game does not try to load. Just says (depending on which board I'm using) "Naomi" or "Naomi 2".

Both boards boot MVC2 successfully, power is confirmed to GDROM drive, can't check SCSI cable so... the dimm's dead. Off to Ken it goes, I guess.

I'm having a similar issue.

I don't have a cart game to test, but I boot up Naomi and get error 01, which is normal.

At first when I put the DIMM in, I'd get error 22, followed all the advice, opened it up, re-set the inner board, made sure it was in Naomi properly, kept getting error 22.

Now after several attempts it simply gives me error 01 when the DIMM is installed.

Anything I'm missing or is the DIMM for sure dead?
