Problems with Naomi 6-Button Play on Supergun

Post by OldFoo »

Hello, everybody.

I have a Jamma supergun which can handle six button play on a CPS2 system no problem. It has a Capcom kick harness which connects to the CPS2 A-board to enable buttons 4, 5, and 6. It works fine with CPS2 boards.

However, when I hook it up to a Naomi setup, I only get four buttons. Buttons 1, 2, and 3 work fine. Button 6 works but as button four (slow kick). I am using a Naomi mobo w/ Capcom I/O, and I am trying this on Marvel vs. Capcom 2. I am also connecting the kick harness to the I/O.

How can I get this setup to work for six-button play on a Naomi?

Any assistance regarding this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The jamma I/O has a different layout than the standard kick harness, as shown in the Universal Wiring Diagram. Buttons 1-5 are actually on the jamma edge. All other button inputs are located on the I/O's kick harness (or extra inputs header).

But the Capcom I/O uses the CPS2/3 Layout doesn't it??

That's what a thought. I am using a Capcom I/O with kick harness which works perfect on my CPS2 and CPS3 6-button games, but not on Naomi games.

Oh, Capcom I/O! Sorry for mis-reading your post. As far as I know, the layout is:

If this is how your system is wired, then the I/O might be set to 4 player mode. Did you check this?

Thanks. I didn't check the I/O for 4-player mode. Can you tell me how to do that?

If you look into the opening of the I/O where the Jamma connector is you will see this:

The switch marked as #3 is supposed to be to the right (away from the reset button #2).

Thanks, Joshua.

I flipped the switch, and it worked perfectly.
