Introducction and vertical line on my screen

Post by OldFoo »

Hi all!,

I 'm Querubin from Spain. Newest private owner of a Naomi universal cabinet from 2001 made in UK with a naomi2 gd-rom system and the game Beach Spikes (2002). I have no clue about the possibilities of this machines and hope to learn from you what the best to do with it to me.

I think it has a Sanwa 29E31S monitor and need to be repaired. May be you can help me.

Nothing appears on the screen when is powered on. But when you unplug the VGA connector a vertical line appears in the middle of the screen.

I have tried the VGA wire on a PC display and the game works ok.

I thing is a problem on the horizontal output but I'm not sure about that and neither how repair it.

Can you guide me to find the problem and solve it?

Thanks in advance and excuse me my poor english.

hola,

where in spain do you live?

normally a horizontal line across the screen will either mean component failure in the vertical deflection circuit or a bad connection to the yoke

if its a vertical line going down the screen then its most likely a bad solder connection on the flyback or yoke

Hi grantspain.

What fast!!

I live in Murcia.

The line is vertical.

Can you be more specific on how to repair it.

Thanks very much.

Have you got any relation with Spain?.

Perfecto, tu no hablas mal el espa?ol tampoco. Poco a poco.

I will try to take the chassis out and resoldering all the components. I will comment what happens with that.

Muchas gracias.

look at the flyback transformer and yoke plug connections in particular

Ok, I can't locate the flyback transformer exactly but I will resold everything.

An observation. I checked the D401 component (It can be seen on the manual). In the manual sais that is a diode but it is indentical to a transistor.

When I have checked it the center and right pins are communicated and the multimeter beeps. If it is a transistor is bad, and if is a diode I don't know.

don?t resolder everything as you only need to check the obvious bad connections

the flyback transformer is also know as a lopt,it has the focus control

d401 is a diode in a different package and it will read in circuit

do you know how to remove a monitor chassis correctly

Ok, I understand.

When I resolder the flyback transformer and the yoke connections will tell you the results.

Thanks for your good help amigo.

I again.

Resolded flyback and connectors and no changes.

I have been testing different transistors and the Q412 (horizontal deflection output) is in short (Is say this in english?). Whatever of three pins I test my multimeter beeps. I think replacing it all will be solved. Could I be on the right way?. Is there any other component associated to this transistor a resistor or something I had to replace too?.

Thanks.
