Naomi2 - I/O board error

Don't do this yet!! If you make the wrong connections you will blow the board. I'm trying to figure out which is which. So far, I have:

CN1 = (pin 1)12v,12v,NC,GND, GND

CN7 = (pin 1)5v,5v,GND,GND

The other 2 connectors are exactly the same and are meant to act as a pass-through for powering another I/O.

will look at my cabinet and confirm, was a Virtua Golf originally if that makes any difference, nothing blown yet!...........

Well, all I can say is that the machine worked properly with the connectors in the position as they are right now... So I really doubt if it will help to move connectors from one place to another...

On the I/O board it says Sega...

I am located in Belgium... Quite far away I presume...

On the naomi itself, you have a couple of tiny pushbuttons. One is a test button, so you can enter the test/diag system without the I/O board. Do that and see what the status of JVS is..

I did the test without the I/O board, using the small switches on the naomi. Following is the result :

Ram Test : All IC's good

JVS test : No jamma I/O Board

Dimm board test : programm version 1.02, all good.

It looks like the I/O board is not recognised or maybe the cable is broken or ...

I hate to say it, but it sounds like your IO card is fried...I have 2 that do, more or less, the same thing and the only way I could ever make them work right(or something like it) was to remove the gdrom completely and use the gdrom power cord to the IO instead of the one that's supposed to go there...course the tradeoff was no gdrom and no 6 button support...but other than that, I could never make mine work right...on at least one of them, a blown (or maybe semi blown) ic was the culprit...can't recall which ic it was now though...anyway, you can try replacing the usb cable to the IO if you haven't already, and make sure the proper power cable isn't broke anywhere, etc....but if it's not a cable issue, very likely a blown IO...but just my opinion...not an expert by any means...

I am leaving for holidays for the next 2 weeks... so I will not be able to regularly check for replies.

I told you I have a spare I/O board. If you pay for shipping its yours. It is a Sega JVS I/O. All my setups are JAMMA so I do not need the JVS I/O. :smt020
