I/O Board not detected

Post by OldFoo »

Hello everybody.

I have a problem with my new naomi+gdrom setup plugged to my Blast City.

Naomi MB (and GDROM) powered by BLAST CITY power connector.

I/O board (83813683 / SP5001) plugged to BC jamma harness and NAOMI MB via USB.

The Naomi boot without problem, load the GDROM into DIMM OK, check memory OK, but "I/O Board not connected" message appear.

In the service menu, JVS submenu "I/O board not connected" without any other informations.

I have tried another USB cable but same problem.

Anyone an idea ?

Thanks in advance.

I am not an expert but maybe you could start checking your 5V from your jamma

the past 2 times I've had that happen with those io cards(exactly the same symptoms as you btw) the cards were bad...I did manage to fix one and get the other partially working, but it was a pain, so you'd probably be better off replacing it...

of course, I don't know as much as some of the regs like andygeezer, etc. so they might know something else to check or some other reason it might happen...

Hello,

Thank you.

I was thinking to test my 5V but i need to find my voltmetre :p

I have bought the whole lot (naomi, gd, i/o) from a japanese store (used) so i was not expecting this kind of problem :(

i got 5,1v without anything plugged, 5,05 with only i/o, 4,95 with naomi powered up.

Do you think that's ok ?

I have not yet checked if it can be tweaked on the PSU

It is a bit low, but the I/O should still operate at that voltage.

If there is a jumper change the setting, as sometimes they don't work unless set to the other jumper position.

Thank you.

But unfortunately same thing with jumper JP1 set to A or B, or without

where are you located? and what kind of I/O is it? If you are in the U.S. and it is a JVS I/O I could send you one of mine to get you going. I don't know how to use the JVS I/O and I have like 3 sitting around here. :smt020
