I've never done one myself, but my understanding is that you remove and replace certain specific capacitors on the monitor chasis. You'll need to know the brand and model number you have to order the correct caps and then get handy with a soldering iron.

I don't believe this is the worst thing in the world, but it is a big job.

would it just be easier to replace the moniter with an lcd screen in the right size?

I'm not sure of the availability of properly sized LCD's and mounting hardware, but there is also the concern over the scanlines and the appearance of low-res games (such as the sprites from Marvel vs Capcom).

There are probably a few big articles on this subject out there since it's not an uncommon topic, not sure of a good one to point you to though, sorry

well then, how would I go about fixing my current moniter's problem and where do I find the model number?

take the back off and take a photo, its either a sanwa 29es31s or a nanao 2932

it looks more like a capacitor problem rather than the vertical linearity but no harm in adjusting it

Hantarex Polo 25" is what it says under the gray wire:

I also found some "Midway Games" stickers on it

And here is the monitor itself

It also has a hand written sticker that says "good, rebuilt, resoldered, and tested polo 25" with controls, 7/15/2004

that looks like a polo 1 chassis to me,15khz only

the problem you have will either be a capacitor or the vert lin adjust RV102,its near the vertical frame ic 103

imo you have a leaky cap on the vert deflection circuit

So what do I need to take apart to reach this? Also is it labeled to where I can easily find it?
