Is there a counter connected to your setup? On some games, the controls are unresponsive unless a counter is present. :smt045

I moved the set up over to another cab that has a working coin counter, and no change. It boots up with controls unresponsive but the game starts immediately on it's own as though I've put in a coin and pushed start.

It will go to the Naomi test screen if I push it before the game boots up only. Once any demo screens appear test is unresponsive. Coin switch appears unresponsive at all times.

From the test screen I can select the VOOT test, but it freezes upon presenting the options.

All this behavior is only for this Naomi cart, all other carts are fine.

so weird.

You using the dedicated JVS I/O??

using the Capcom I/O same set up as I have used for all my Naomi games (so far)

None of my cabs are wired JVS, if the bios doesn't fix this will have to look into rewiring to JVS I guess.

Open to other ideas!

Few Naomi games must have the dedicated I/O to function correctly

Is Virtual On one of them?

So, if VOOT was one of them I would just need a Sega Jamma I/O I assume?

No it needs the dedicated one found in Naomi cabs to my knowledge.

For example ID doesn't work on anything but dedicated I/O.

scogon wrote:found an old thread where SkiDog mentions the game "locking up" when he let the credits run out. When I first plugged this in it went to "Free Play" which I thought was odd but didn't question it since I'd prefer it on Free Play anyway, maybe it's locking up on me?

So, tonight I'll set it to use coins and see if things improve. Also ordered the newest Naomi JP bios just in case....

Fingers crossed! Can't wait to play this!

The lock up was related to US BIOS

In US Bios the game will play and keep playing as long as you hit continue

If you wait to continue,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 it will lock up on US bios

JPN bios works as expected and will return to start screen after continue,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 . Took me a long time to figure that out.

VOOT does not need coin counter. Choco Maker is the only game that I needed a coin counter spoof for.

JVS I/O can be found pretty cheap. $50-$75

NAOMI->USB->JVS IO->LOOM->Control Panel
