UPDATED! Control panel not working on Naomi Uni cab

It's been suggested that the problem I'm having with my control panel on my Uni cabinet might be related to voltage.

What happens is that I'll be playing, and without warning, the controls stop working. Audio and Video continue to work fine, just no controls.

Since I'd like to get this fixed ASAP, I thought I'd start with by checking the voltage.

Problem is, I have no clue.

In layman's terms, can anyone tell me how I can check this?

(Including how to set my multimeter, and what posts to touch with each colored lead.)

Multimeter should have a DC setting, with a range, ideally 30.

You should have 2 probes, one red and one black.

With your Naomi cab switched one, shove the black probe on a white wire and the red one on a yellow wire, this should tell you what your +5V is running at, should be around 5.2, if it is too low, you can turn the +5V pot on the PSU to increase/decrease the +5

Which "white wire" and which "yellow wire"? Coming from the I/O board?

Or on the connector from the I/O board to the CP?

I'm not sure where the probes should be testing.

check them on the wiring that goes into the gameboard (Naomi 1)

Also do white and brown, as I think your +3.3 might be dropping too low, should be 3.5 under load (with the game running).

Without a visual, it's hard to picture.

I use the probes on the wiring going into the Naomi mobo?

I would have thought it would be the wiring that connects to the CP.

Kind of like "Voltage testing for dummies".

Sorry for the slow reply, I assume you are getting lock-ups, or problems with your game, it will be the Naomi not the I/O.

So you need to take the voltage at the Naomi to find out what is happening with your voltage.

It's not the video or audio. Just the CP.

Mid-play, the PC will just stop working.

I understand that it's probably the voltage; I just don't know how to check it.

You mentioned using the multimeter to check, but I was unclear on your directions on where exactly to touch the red/black probes to.

If you can expand on that a little, that would be super.
