on mine the coin counter is below the coin bucket, I don't have any other ideas on how to try and assist, sorry, will keep an eye on the thread though.

edit! re-read the problem description, when you checked voltages was it when the controls were working or were not working?

checking when it's not working would seem to be a better way to go. Also perhaps check for the voltage across a button when it's working/not working and pushed/not pushed. This might help you determine the difference between the two states.

Also maybe this is related to the bois and game combo? (just a guess)

Maybe take a pic of the sega io board and setup as well (behind the metal monitor controls in your other pic) perhaps something is shorting out??

The control panel won't work at all now.

I've checked the voltage at the motherboard like Gilles and Andy said, and adjusted them slightly to match their recommendations. (They weren't that far off though.)

I don't know what it is, but now the buttons/joystick don't work at all.

I don't believe that it's related to the game, because it was working, just not all the time.

AAAHHHH!

I would think that it's either the ground on the CP or IO that is affected or something with the IO itself perhaps....? maybe it's being shorted out, is it raised up on pegs? Touching anything metal? Could you post pics of the CP and IO wiring?

What kind of spares to you have access to? spare Naomi MB, spare CP, spare IO? If the wires are all clean and not screwed up then it would have to be one of these I guess.

If you check the voltage across a button (the colored wire and it's ground) you should be able to determine if the buttons are even getting juice.

Did that - it's not the control panel.

In fact, the CP I was using was on a JP wiring loom, so I took that out, and swapped in a US CP.

Didn't work.

I then did a JVS Input test, and it said, "NO I/O Board" (or something like that.)

I unplugged the USB (square end) from the I/O, plugged it back in, and it recognized the I/O, and the CP worked.

However, about 10 minutes later, it stopped again.

Anyone think that the I/O might need to be replaced?

Try another USB cable. You never know! :smt115

Check the Usb cable and if its not that, its probably the i/o.

Does anyone know what these are for? I've numbered the pins on the mobo 1 & 4, and the connectors 2 & 3.

I don't have any clue what they're for.

4.

Thanks as always guys.

Keep those 2 connectors unplugged, they are what's disabling your CP, unless you plan on using Dreamcast controllers to play your Naomi, you don't need those connected for standard (Joystick and button) games
