Blast City CP Wiring To Naomi Cab

Post by OldFoo »

I have a Naomi cab that was originally a Virtua Tennis cab but has sense been converted to a Virtua Golf cab. I have a few Naomi games I would like to be able to swap out in this cab so I got a Blast City control panel in hopes I could use it as a unaversal control panel.

I turns out (as some of you probabbly already know) the wiring does not match up. I was hoping that there was some sort of adapter I could just order to use this control panel with the cab. Otherwise I can make one but an adapter would be prefered.

I have the exact cabinet and I went thru the exact same problem. I wasn't able to to find the female version of the blast city connectors. I just said F*ck it and convereted the entire thing into a jamma cabinet.

You can try here in the market area or arcadeotaku to find those connectors but I couldn't find them on any site. :smt017

Looks like the Blast City connectors are AMP connectors I think these are on call JP CP's, the others are US ones, no idea why they changed them for North America. I recently rewired my US Naomi Universal over to AMP connectors, I bought a loom from Sega Shed, it was an easy process.

You should be able to just buy the AMP connectors themselves and rewire those plugs from your cab, at least the ones for the digital controls. Will take a bit of work but shouldn't be too bad if you are organized and patient. Plus then you could swap out for other JP control panels if you want to.

OR I could send you the wires from my US CP off of the Naomi Universal, but all it had was the wiring for 2 players 3 buttons each and you'd still need/want the set up for buttons 4, 5, 6 I assume, which means you'll need more of the US connectors.

Hope that helps, good luck

(Oh yeah, this is all assuming that your cab has a Sega JVS IO)

Rewiring to Jamma would also be a way to go and not too tough overall.

I am pretty sure it is JVS since I don't see anything JAMMA at all.

Are these what you are talking about?

Those are the only things I could locate that even looked close.

ok, the links there are all for the CP side of the wiring which you have on your Blast City CP. What I think you need is a loom from the Sega JVS IO (assuming you have one) to the CP, like this:

I know that Sega Shed had some, but I couldn't find them on the site this time.

Another note, your CP seems to have 2 players, plus ground, plus a CPS2 kick harness, you may need to get the extra button harness from segashed and replace the CPS2 harness if you are using this for Naomi.

Ok, I got this loom:

http://www.giz10p.co.uk/cabinet-parts/w ... d_115.html

The issue is that that harness is only a foot long so it is no where near long enough to reach to my i/o board.

I was thinking I could just order a male/female set of the connectors and chop up the 60 pin amp loom I got and just make a converter cable. Does anyone know if there is any issues with that and where could I find those connectors?

Short of swapping my i/o board to Jamma would this not be the best route?

Also, where does the kick harness for the 4-6 buttons for each player connect?

and what about moving the jvs maybe and just only extend the power to the jvs?

I guess I could... but the cab is all original and the wires inside are all nice and neat. I rather not start stringing boards along if I can avoid it.

regarding the kick harness, if your IO is like this one:

http://triplemoonstar.brinkster.net/seg ... ockid=1718

Then it has the wiring for buttons 1-7 in it for between the IO and the CP connector, then you plug the extra button harness from the buttons in the CP to this.

If you are looking to play CPS2 games that need the Capcom kick harness then you'll need a converter from JVS to Jamma. If not then you don't need the Capcom kick harness, all buttons will be taken care of through the IO.

hope that all makes sense....

I have that and a JAMMA i/o board. The JAMMA I just have laying around and the JVS is what is in the cab.

So I pretty much just need to get a JAMMA harness and a CSP2 and swap out all the button wiring for all the buttons along with the i/o board out of the cab.

Off to ebay I go I suppose...
