Problems with my HOD2 arcade machine

First of all hello to everyone on this great forum, I really hope that I can help people arround here with there problems or finding Arcade items for you, also hope to find some solutions as well

Forgive me if this is not the right forum to choose from but as everyone knows : HOD2 is from Sega which uses a Naomi system:)

I got a faulty IC BD Gun Sense spy UR pcb :smt012 from my House of the Dead2 arcade machine..

number is 838-13143-11 IC

A friend of mine found out that (probably) this pcb is not working 100% and is responsible for both guns that doesn`t work anymore, also sometimes I can not give it any credits..

The easiest way is to replace the whole pcb to see if we are right, on they other hand maybe I can fix this pcb by myself if I know which are the most common problems with this pcb, so if anyone over here has some experiences with this pcb or know where to find a used one: please do not hesitate to let me know.

Any help would be appreciated

Intermittent failure can be a symptom of not enough power. Did you check to see if all power lines (5v, 12v, 3.3v) are up to spec while the system is running?

Many thanks for your great info.

So far we didn`t checked the voltages , but sure will do it very soon

The symptoms of my machine were that the second gun slowly refuses to fire and after a while it stopped, the first gun was still working but that gun also stops after a short period, so I presuming it was a fautly Gun Sense pcb ?

I also noticed that sometimes it didn`t take any credits.

Is this giving you any clue or should I first check the voltages ?

heey jan guys this is a friend of mine this is the problem the sensors do not see the gun also by the look of it the sensors also do not light up maybe a bad gun board ic? or is the bezel crash? bad eprom etc etc triggers do work, and i connot test it anymore since i sold my hotd2 kit

The first thing to check in any electronic malfunction is the power supply voltages. There's no sense in saying the product is faulty if it's not getting enough power. Another reason I mention testing the power is because the problem 'fades' instead of just not working. The 'general rule of thumb' to remember is that digital components either work, or they don't. If electronics don't work consistently, most of the time it's a power related issue whether it be directly from the PSU or within the malfunctioning board itself. :smt045 :smt024

Plus, testing voltages doesn't cost anything. Randomly replacing parts can really hurt the pocket ($$$... :smt012)

Wise words are spoken, and your very right that it`s better first to test the powersupply, will do that in a very short time

As far we could see no, we didn`t noticed anything on the screen so far..
