replaceing game in sega model 3 driver

I have a sega lemans model 3 1.5,i was wondering what other driving games could i put in the cabinet that would work?

I would guess you could also run other games based on Model 3, like Daytona 2 and Sega Rally 2..

Basically, you can put any model 3 driver in there.



I have an SR2 cabinet and have played :



Le Mans 24

Daytona 2 PE

Sega Rally 2

Scud Race



and currently programming up Emergency Call Ambulance and Dirt Devils to play in this cabinet.

Well yes and no. Lemans is sooo different than the other M3 racers...



It uses M2 feedback, misses the DSB(1/2) and has a Hi/Lo shifter. So it is defo not the best cab to upgrade, much much work and money involved. Trust me, finding a real M3 panel is not an easy task...



Obviously you could still run them with some heavy wiring rework/shifter mod. But you'd miss force feedback, which is the key difference between an upright and a sitdown...

I've converted a Touring Car machine to model 3 (very easy) and installed a Daytona 2 Power Edition boardset. The original model 2 feedback board works fine using the TC rom. So you dont miss out on feedback!



The hi/lo shifter is easily changed for a 4 way (all the wiring is there).



Sound works but obviously if you want music, you need to install a second amp, interconnect board and the dsb 2. The wiring is the same for the dsb 1 and 2.

To be honest, it's not THAT difficult a job to do, but yes, starting with a newer model 3 cabinet would make the job easier, albeit at a price premium.

That isn't 100% true, the feedback on Daytona 2 when using Touring Car feedback hardware isn't 100% correct. You miss a some samples and also if you crash while the feedback is activated it will be locked, until you restart the game again (i.e push start so it releases the lock).

Yeah, I've found that as well. Happens if you run out of time also. You're right though, it's better to get a true model 3 cab and swap over the boards.



Once I get my parcel of M3 feedback boards then I'll swap it over. I've already got a dsb 2 in the wings so it'll be pretty much as close as it's going to get.
