Chihiro Compatibility

There seems to be very little information available for this system (other than the specific game manuals).



Can anyone tell me if Chihiro is backwards compatible to run Naomi or Naomi 2 GD ROMs?



Is there a manual available for the system?



Can anyone tell me what dip switches (there are 8 on the interface board) control what screen resolution?

I can tell you that the Chihiro will not play Naomi (1 or 2) GD-Roms.

Resolution dips are pointless on Chihiro



All the mainstream games will only work in 640x480, while some of the network games (MJ) can be 800x600.



There is 4 version of Chihiro



Type 1 - External Dimm unit - 2 games



Type 3 - Cube type 512MB - Most Export/USA games (except CTHR and HOTD3)



Type 3 Cube type 1GB/NET - Network Type 3, this can be converted back to GD-ROM type



Type 3 Solid State - Namco Maximum Tune 2 Rom board version, no Dimm board or GD-ROM. Same as Mario Kart games.

Thanks, mine is a Type 3/USA Region out of an Outrun 2 but I am missing the software. There is a listing in the Market section for OR2 SP disk and chip, but the seller wasn't sure if it would run on a USA region board.



Can anyone tell me if OR2 SP had different versions or would only run on an export region board?

I just changed the region of my Chihiro type 3 from Export to USA, for check if Outrun 2 SP loads on USA Region.



Outrun 2 SP Export, GDX-0014A, loads and plays perfectlly on USA or Export Region, don't worry, it will work for you on Usa Region.

Type 1 was only shipped with two games in Japan, HOTD3 and Crazy Taxi.



When I say Type 1, they will only operate on Type 1.



The other games that will work on Type 1 are



Vcop 3

Ghost Squad

Outrun 2 (Non Link)

Ollie King (Non Link)
