For question #1:

It is possible to save data, but the Naomi system uses cards to do so. There are two versions I am aware of: 1) An automatic card reader that reads and dispenses new cards, 2) A control panel with a single, manual card reader.

For question #2:

I believe the other I/O is from Namco, hence the obvious differences. This I/O doesn't have a RCA out like the Capcom version and most likely outputs in mono (JAMMA standard).

For question #3:

The first and second illustrations are correct for games that support linking. There is more information about linking 2 or more games on the Sega-Naomi main website under 'Hardware'. Games that use SegaNet don't link for playing over Internet or TCP/IP, although I think Sega incorporated this method to be easier alternative to connect than optical cabling. I believe this is for posting scores for ranking, so I don't think illustration #3 will work. Illustration #4 is correct except every mobo needs to have a game.

For question #4:

I have this control panel, and it doesn't use a usb connector. So, in answer to your question, no. However, the Naomi system has two connectors for both Maple and Serial connections. This is in mind for two players.

For question #5:

All Initial D games are linkable with 2 players.

Ring Out 4X4 is linkable to 4 players.

Gundam is linkable for at least 2 players, maybe 4.

Tetris is like it's original counterpart: 2 players, not linkable.

All Virtua Fighter versions are 2 players, not linkable.

Beach Spikers is two players, not linkable. (But I have heard of a 4 player kit)

I think Club Kart is linkable although I'm not sure of max players.

Update...

For linking, i have already see hardware section in the site, but i think it don't give clear information, like for example of linking 8 players.

Also, i think many others people will be interesting in the list of linkable game (because in the site, some game a bad information, not linkable, but in description are linkable, and others...)

Yes, only one Naomi is necessary to run dual screen. For a game like VF4, you take players 1 and 2 and separate the signals between two single player panels (player 1 and player 2 has separate wiring). Although there is only one video out, it is easy to use a splitter between two screens. Both screens display the exact same thing.

Once again, the panels DO NOT use usb connections. They use wiring to each button like regular cabinets do. The only usb connection is from the Naomi to the I/O.

I can take a picture of the bottom and wiring, but I do not yet have a picture hosting capability. I'm working on it though.

i don t have any panel and begin with naomi system,

but i have always some questions (sorry):

if think (maybe i am wrong, tell me) it is possible to connect

2 card reader on the io to make each player can play his saves.

but, it this the "sega io rev.1" we can see on your pic ?

it is possible to use a sega io rev.2 to connect 2 players input

(joy and buttons) and 2 card readers ?

(because i really interesting)
