I never tried connecting the MCR cables to the Naomi 2 mainboard so I dont know if you can or can't connect 2 MCR's to one Naomi 2 for both player to have VF4 card data.

I sold my 2x VF4 panels and card readers to Laurent / 21lo

I believe you can connect two card readers at the same time.

2 players, 2 controls, 2 card readers. I think it makes sense.

P.S.

The board that you see in the pic is the card reader pcb, not the I/O. :D

So, if someone (who have time to do it)

have a cabinet with naomi, and with a

"panel + memory card reader" connected. It will be

very interesting to have some pic to understand the wiring.

panel - io - naomi

I agree. The hookup is simple, but I don't have the connectors that fit the ones in the above pic. I'm currently looking for a harness or connector. It would be a shame to cut the original connectors off. :smt009

Ah! Interesting panel. I think that's for Outrigger, and possibly another. It's different from the one I've shown as this does not have the card reader.

Also, the board on my panel says "Maple to Serial converter" and is smaller than the standard Naomi I/O. Furthermore, none of the joystick or button controls go to this small board, only the card reader.

yes it's outtriger, but i don t think another game use this panel

because it's:

one analog joystick + one trackball + buttons...

too much specific from this game (outtriger)

i am very interesting in the picture of the different "mapple-io" but i can't find.

And it's interesting to see that the naomi have also mapple connector...

(10pin, and 11pin) but to do what ?

(i hope for card reader, LOL)

The Maple system Naomi uses is a communication port for peripheral devices. For example, some games are actually compatible with Dreamcast controllers. If you have the right connector or control panel, you can use the Maple port and play more comfortably.

There's also the extra bonus of being able to use the Dreamcast memory card to share scores or unlock specials in game. (Note: Very few games use this method.) The more common use of this port is for the memory card system seen in some games (Ex. Virtua Fighter 4, Initial D). :smt020
